The Tale of Tilly's Troubling Trick
Tilly the rabbit learns the importance of considering friends' feelings after discovering her playful tricks upset shy Benny the Bear, leading to a more inclusive and enjoyable playtime in Meadowbrook.
Once upon a time, in the cozy village of Meadowbrook, lived a young rabbit named Tilly. Tilly was energetic and loved to play tricks, but she had a lot to learn about understanding others' feelings.
Tilly’s favorite pastime was to hide behind trees and jump out to surprise her friends. She thought it was a fun game and that everyone else did too. However, her friend Benny the Bear didn't find it so amusing; Benny was very shy and these surprises made him really uncomfortable.
One sunny afternoon, Tilly overheard Benny talking to Sally the Squirrel. "Tilly's tricks make me so nervous, I get really scared," Benny confided.
Tilly felt a sinking feeling in her stomach. She had never meant to hurt anyone's feelings; she thought everyone enjoyed her pranks as much as she did.
Determined to make things right, Tilly hopped over to Old Owl Oliver's tree. Oliver was the wisest creature in Meadowbrook and Tilly was sure he could give her some advice.
Old Owl Oliver listened carefully and said, "Tilly, you're a good rabbit, but it's important to think about how your actions make others feel. Why don't you try asking your friends what games they like to play?"
Taking Oliver's advice to heart, Tilly decided to change her approach. The next day, she went over to Benny and Sally. "I'm really sorry, Benny. I didn’t know my tricks made you uncomfortable. What game would you like to play instead?"
Benny's face lit up. "Well, I've always wanted to try painting. Would you like to join me?"
And so they did. Tilly, Benny, and Sally spent the afternoon painting colorful pictures, laughing, and having a great time. Tilly found that respecting her friends' feelings made playtime more enjoyable for everyone.
From that day on, Tilly always remembered to consider her friends' feelings before jumping into any games or tricks. And so, they all lived happily, respecting each other's feelings, making Meadowbrook a happier place for everyone.
